Almond Pate

by Hugh
(Fairfax, CA)

This is a great recipe for adding to veggie wraps, spreading on celery or cucumber slices, or simply topping a large dinner salad. This yummy pate travels well for lunches or a potluck and will keep in the fridge for several days if need be. The pate is shown here with Persian cucumbers, which are much easier to eat and digest because of their tender nature.

Pulse all ingredients in the food processor with the “S” blade until you have the desired consistency. If you don't have a food processor then carrots could be shredded and everything chopped and diced finely. Recipe is for one or two people.

1/3 cup raw unpasteurized almonds (soaked overnight, drained and rinsed)

2 carrots cut into chunks

1 small zucchini cut into chunks

1 stalk of celery cut into chunks

1-2 tablespoons green onion (optional)

1/4 cup dulse (soaked for 20 minutes)

1/2" piece of fresh ginger root (optional)

juice of 1/4 lemon

You could add a little hot pepper and cilantro to give it a southwest flair.

Which juice will give stronger nails?

Q What juice recipe is good for getting stronger nails?

A In general all juices would be good because they contribute to a health body which in turn would give healthy nails. Specifically leafy greens for their minerals and cucumbers for the silica they contain.

I’m really big on juices that contain greens because they contain the building blocks for a strong healthy body and good health.

Other things like sunshine, fresh air, exercise, good B-12 and vitamin D levels are all important for good health including strong healthy nails.

Take a look at the Juicing Recipes and see which ones with greens appeal to you. Many times when we have a desire or craving for a natural food that is our natural intelligence making a request.
And remember you can always add cucumber to any of the juices you see.

What quantities of each food constitute a healthy recipe?

by Sarie
(Ermelo, Mpumalanga, South Africa )

Q HOW DOES ONE KNOW HOW MANY OF WHAT DO YOU COMBINE IN ORDER TO MAKE YOUR RECIPE HEALTHY?

A In a natural or raw food diet all the ingredients will contain good nutrition and if one eats a wide variety of fruits and vegetables then good nutrition is assured. Of course fats will make up far less percentage wise as will seaweeds, herbs, and spices.

The raw food recipe page gives many examples of healthy recipes, many with exact amounts of each food. Raw Food Recipes

There are of course times when existing health issues or the breaking of natural laws like eating meals on top of meals will compromise even the best diets and can cause poor health. Both the existing health issues and the breaking of natural laws can be corrected, although sometimes a natural health care provider is needed to help a person with this.
