How to handle detox symptoms?

Q I'm on day 2 in raw food detox, and I am quite tired. I also have a headache, any tips?

A First let me say congratulations on doing a detox diet to improve your health. That’s Great, and although it may not seem like it now your body thanks you.

You have two choices with your situation. You can tough it out which will mean that the toxin debris will be leaving your body quicker and be over sooner, or you can slow the detox down so it is easier to handle and function in day to day activities, but will mean the overall detox will last longer.

This also depend s on how healthy you are and what your present toxic load is. Even if you are healthy, your body may require many cleanses over the years to cleanse deep enough to remove toxins from your childhood. My point being although you will see amazing results from a cleanse now, more cleanses will probably be needed down the road anyway so being comfortable now may be important to you.

If you’re eating solid raw food meals now then you can add in more fat which will slow the detox and its associated symptoms. If you’re doing a green smoothie or juice cleanse then you can incorporate more solid raw foods into your cleanse and slow down the detox that way.

Water is the most cleansing, followed by juice, smoothies, whole raw foods, and then healthy cooked foods. Depending where you are on your health journey you can choose what is most appropriate for you in your raw food detox plan. You can add, mix or delete these cleansing foods to achieve the level of cleansing and associated detox symptoms you can handle.

Plenty of pure water is also important to flush the toxins from your system and green foods, which are alkalizing, can be very helpful in buffering the acidity of the toxic waste.

You can read more about the Detox Diet and follow a link at the bottom of that page to the Detox Diet Recipes.

Avoid the Unpleasant Symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Introduce yourself to the Numerous Treatment Choices

Irritable bowel syndrome is every bit as unpleasant as it sounds and although there is no cure for it, ibs treatment can be found to alleviate or remove the symptoms.  Treatments for IBS can enable you to handle the otherwise painful problems associated with the condition and these will depend on your symptoms.

The Symptoms of IBS

Symptoms that could indicate the presence of IBS include diarrhoea, constipation, a combination of diarrhoea and constipation together, abdominal pains, weight loss, bloating, or just general discomfort in your abdomen.  Living with any of these symptoms can be a major detriment to everyday activities, so getting them in check is a worthwhile priority.  There are a number of minor changes you can make to your life which will really help get your symptoms under control such as changing your diet and taking medication.

Rethink What You Eat

Altering what you eat can make a big difference in the severity of your IBS.  Some options work and some options do not so it is a good idea to give as many different options a try before settling into a new diet.  For some individuals, IBS is linked to their intake of lactose and dairy products such as milk and cheese can cause their IBS to act up.  This is not surprising considering that IBS and lactose intolerance are nearly identical in terms of their symptoms on the human body.

Reducing how much fructose and fructan that you consume can also be highly beneficial and can reduce the frequency that you have diarrhoea, constipation, or the alternation between the two.  Increasing how much fibre that you intake can be a great way to normalise your bowel activity and can make life much more comfortable in general.  For those who are primarily experiencing constipation, increasing the intake of your fibre can play a big role in eliminating the problems that constipation brings.

Medications Are Also Helpful

Medication can be a great way to get your IBS into check and to alleviate a lot of the pains of IBS.  There are a number of medications for IBS treatment but they are always specific to the symptoms that are bothering you.  If you are experiencing constipation, for example, then laxatives can be a great medication to take to help clear your system.  Antispasmodics can also be helpful to reduce spasms.  Tricyclic antidepressants and SSRIs can be used to reduce most symptoms of IBS too.  SSRIs tend to be considered more effective at reducing symptoms than tricyclic antidepressants.  Serotoin agonists and antagonists have shown to help with a broad spectrum of issues associated with IBS.

How to Live with Irritable Bowel Syndrome – Understand the Treatments and Symptoms of the Condition

Living with IBS is not easy especially when you don’t know how to manage your symptoms and you don’t have it under control.  This is why you need to be aware of all of the ibs treatment and symptoms so that you can get your life back into order and start living again.  IBS if left undiagnosed and untreated can leave live feeling quite unbearable, with every day revolving around where the bathroom is and will you make it in time.  Understanding IBS treatment and symptoms will eliminate this anxiety.

IBS Treatment and Symptoms

IBS treatment and symptoms revolve around the nature of the symptoms and their severity.  Not all patients have the same sets of symptoms so each one is dealt with individually.  If your experience of IBS is leaving you always needing to be close to a bathroom because you suffer from bouts of diarrhoea then you will be prescribed anti diarrhoea medication and asked about your diet.  It may be that you will be asked to remove fatty foods, chocolate or dairy products in order to alleviate the strain on your colon.  On the other hand those who suffer from painful, chronic constipation will be prescribed fibre drinks and again told to alter their diet so that more natural fibre is introduced.

Reduce the Stress Factor

Your doctor may prescribe anti depressants to combat the low mood or anxiety that your condition has left you with, this is nothing to be ashamed of, chronic pain gets us all down.  Anxiety and depression are as much a part of the IBS treatment and symptoms as the abdominal pain is and should need treating.  Be kind to yourself and look into relaxation therapies as these too will work to reduce your anxiety levels and your IBS symptoms.

Recognising Anxiety Symptoms – What to Look Out For When Your Stress Levels Rise and Anxiety Strikes

These days everyone seems to be racing through life at incredible speed, it seems that we have so much to do and so many people to please that we work for longer than we should, take our work home with us and more often than not let the outside world intrude on our family and personal life.  This leads to a rise in anxiety levels and the appearance of anxiety symptoms.

Symptom to Watch For

Do you find that you become short of breath for no apparent reason, or that you are taking short shallow breaths instead of a more usual slow and regular breathing rhythm?  This could be the first indication that you are exhibiting anxiety symptoms.  Anxiety symptoms will differ from person to person but there are some classic anxiety symptoms that if ignored could lead to a full on panic attack or severe depression, these anxiety symptoms include:

Rapid breathing – short shallow breaths
Rapid heart rate
A feeling that time is running out – too much to do, so little time
Frantic or erratic behaviour
Loss of concentration and focus

All of the above are classic anxiety symptoms and if you experience them you should try to relax and regain your focus and of course seek medical help before the problem becomes worse.

How Anxiety Affects Your Life

If left without treatment anxiety symptoms can start to take over your life.  Your days will revolve around frantically trying to achieve as much as you possibly can without successfully achieving anything.  Living in a constant state of anxiety and panic is not good for your physical health and you may start to develop physical symptoms in response to the severity of your anxiety symptoms which is why medical help is advised.
