Dark Circles from Lack of Sleep

Over the last few years, spending my days in grad school and my nights bartending, I am often tired.  In fact, tired would not even be a good description of the way I often feel.  Exhausted might be a better word.

Well, there are obviously a lot of drawbacks to being tired.  One of the most troubling for me is the dark circles that I often have under my eyes.  While there are a lot of ways to reduce dark circles under the eyes, for me the answer is clearly to get more sleep.

It is difficult though as I do not often have enough time to get a full 8 hours of sleep a night and often end up functioning on 5 hours or less.  While I’ve tried some eye creams and skin care products aimed to eliminate dark circles, I think they are really geared towards people with a genetic predisposition to the problem.

For me at present, applying an icepack to my eyes for 10 minutes in the morning seems to help.  Hopefully soon life will not be so busy so that I can get back to a regular sleep schedule, but until then, I guess this will have to do.
