Just a hypothetical question… me and some friends were talking about it today. Aspirin, sertraline (Zoloft) and alcohol won’t do much alone but make you sick, but what about when mixing them?
You may be “just talking about it,” but there are suicidal people who patrol this board daily, searching for information on how to kill themselves. We won’t give you any information that could be used for suicide. This is the Medicine Board, not the Jack Kevorkian Board. Sorry.
I took an aspirin to get rid of a headache before I went to a party, without thinking. I went to the party and drank. It wasn’t until after that I realized that it might be a bad combo. What could happen? I am only asking because the bottle of aspirin says “Do not take with alcohol“.
Liver damage can occur from taking aspirin with alcohol. Since aspirin and alcohol are both processed in the liver, the liver can become overloaded and literally shut down (in extreme cases). Taking one aspirin with a reasonable amount of alcohol should not cause any long-term damage, so don’t worry! I wouldn’t recommend repeating the combination, however, since over time can cause cirrhosis of the liver.
I take asprinin whenever I have a headache because I get horrific migraines. However, I know it’s bad to take aspirin and alcohol but if I want a drink I do have one. I am wondering what exactly I’m doing to my body and are there any alternatives to aspirin when I have a headache but still want to drink?
Aspirin and alcohol = stomach bleeding. Thats the main reason why you shouldn’t mix the two. And for headaches you want ibuprofen, motrin or something like that not aspirin (ibuprofen is a pretty safe medication). You’re not suppose to take alcohol with ne medication. But i guess if you are motrin or something like dat would be better than aspirin.

Really? I can get completely wasted in a bar and get belligerent and stupid, but i cant get a little high in my own house? Do you agree that we need to rethink our national drug policies regarding marijuana? Do you realize how much money we would save without serious consequences?
This question is asked ad nauseam. Drug laws need to be left to the states. If the states want to allow recreational use of marijuana, I have no problem with that. The war on poverty tripled the number of people in poverty.
The war on drugs tripled the number of people using drugs.
It is obvious that both are failures.
