Ugh. Ok, the hubby’s doc recommended a low-fat diet for him a few weeks ago b/c of borderline high cholesterol. So, here’s my question to anyone who has been through this, or a nutritionist. As in a lot of aspects of medicine, there is SO much conflicting info. I have always thought that Atkins (or any high protein/low carb diet) was a bunch of bull. I was reading an issue of Reader’s Digest today that had an article about diets. The article was written by a doc from Duke University, I believe. I don’t understand the chemistry involved in metabolism but this article was quite persuasive about high protein diets being the better choice than low-fat ones, such as the American Heart Association recommends. Back to my point, my hubby has lost almost no weight yet on the low-fat plan. I feed him well in the am and dinner. Any experience with different diets as far as weight loss and lowering bad cholesterol?
Thanks.
Edit: Thanks, goo. That diet always made sense to me because it includes healthy fats, etc.
Agree 100% Graciela.
